πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Family Life

Sabine and I have been together since 2004.
We married in August 2019 after years of shared battles and blessings.
We have a son, Alex, but I also consider Sally, though not biologically mine, as my own.

Sally works for the local government and trains Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) with me. He holds a blue belt and is pushing toward purple.
Eric lives in Nuremberg, is open-minded and a fellow tech geek – not surprising, given our family's network roots.
Alex is an elite athlete in rowing at a sports school in Halle/Saale. His 8-man crew took bronze at the 2024 World Championships in Ontario, behind the UK and USA. He’s chasing Olympic dreams – 2028 or 2032.

β€œMy pride lies not in what I do, but in what they become.”

πŸ’Ό Working Life

πŸ› οΈ The Early Days

Started my career in September 1989 as a farmer trainee. But when the wall fell, I switched tracks and dove into the unknown:
Car painting, house building, drywalling – whatever paid the bills.

πŸ’» Life Behind the Keyboard

My tech spark lit in 1989, hacking on a C64. I was more obsessed with how games worked than playing them.

πŸ’Ύ My Digital Awakening – A Tech Timeline

  • 1990 – Got my first Atari.
The spark was lit. Games were fun – but how they worked? That was the real magic.

  • 1993 – A dusty 286 PC landed in my room.
I cracked it open and never looked back. Nights spent with MS-DOS, autoexec.bat and config wizardry.

  • 1995 – Met Windows NT 3.1.
Stable, fast – fell in love instantly. The click of a new era.

  • 2001 – Bought my first Mac.
Sleek. Stylish. UNIX underneath. A new toy and tool in one.

  • 2003 – Hosted my first gaming server.
TCE Elite (True Combat) and Counter-Strike ran on my home rig, and I learned what latency really means.

  • 2004 – Became a full-blown hostmaster.
Managed over 100 websites and multiple game servers. Apache configs, BIND, MySQL, broken backups at 3am – the real sysadmin experience.

That led me into IT professionally:

Worked as a System Engineer for Microsoft Servers and Workstations at Deutsche Telekom in Frankfurt, then moved into hardcore networking.
Over the years, I’ve worked with:
Dresdner Bank, Commerzbank, Allianz, Deutsche Post, Siemens, Cable & Wireless, MicroStaxx, Vion IT Services, and now HCD Consulting GmbH.
